Tina Louise

Tina Tina Amanda AmandaMaureen was a natural athlete and loved playing athletic games. Her passion for sports was matched by an equally natural gift for performing. Her talent was exemplified by winning pretty much every Feis prize for drama and the stage that her country had to offer. When she was 14 Maureen was accepted to the Abbey Theater, where her enthusiasm for classical theatre and operatic music was pursued. Charles Laughton became captivated with her stunningly beautiful eyes when he saw a screen-test. Before deciding to cast her for the role in Jamaica Inn (1939), Laughton along with his co-star, Erich Pommer, changed her name to Maureen FitzSimons to "Maureen O'Hara" which was a little smaller last name to fit the marquee. In contract with Laughton and Erich Pommer, her following film was planned to be made within America (The Hunchback Of Notre Dame (1939)) at RKO Pictures. The contract Maureen signed with Laughton was purchased by RKO following the epic film was such a hit. Maureen was 19 when she made her debut with Laughton in two movies.
